Motorists were detected driving at almost 160 kilometres per hour on the N3 during speed checks yesterday.
Early on Monday morning, the Cavan Roads Policing Unit found a number of driver breaking the 100 kilometre per hour speed limit.
Of the four motorists highlighted by Gardai, they were travelling at speeds of between 128 and 157kilometres per hour in the early hours of the morning.
Fixed payment notices and penalty points are to be issued to the offending drivers.
Cavan Gardai are using the incidents to remind people to drive within the speed limit and save lives on the road.
