The June Bank Holiday Weekend is well underway and Gardaí across the region say that dangerous driving continues.
Monaghan Roads Policing Unit arrested a driver after the driver was detected travelling in a van at a speed of 150 kmph in a 100 kmph zone in wet driving conditions in heavy Bank Holiday traffic on Saturday afternoon.
Bailieboro Gardai also detected an unaccompanied learner permit holder driving under the influence of drugs.
Both drivers now face a Court appearance.
Gardaí are reminding road users that over the remainder of the weekend they will continue a high visibility presence and carry out checkpoints.
Local Gardaí are appealing to not take the chance - slow down, don't drive under the influence of drink or drugs and have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
