A motorist who approached a garda road checkpoint in an intoxicated state has been arrested.
Cavan Roads Policing Unit and members of the Cavan Detective branch were accompanied by the RSA over the course of last week in conducting a number of proactive crime patrols and checkpoints around the Cavan and Belturbet areas.
The driver in question was arrested and samples taken for further testing at the Medical Bureau Road Safety. Cavan Gardaí say more similar operations are planned to deter criminals and make our roads safer.
