A local councillor has highlighted the need to introduce more traffic calming measures across Co Monaghan. The issue was raised by Cllr Raymond Aughey at the most recent sitting of Monaghan County Council. As the current chairman of the speed limit committee, Cllr Aughey says this is a matter which is close to his heart. Speaking to Northern Sound, the Fianna Fail representative says that speeding is an issue across all local towns and villages.
As a result, speed limit poles are currently being erected in various parts of the county, while speed limits have been introduced on all non-national roads as well as towns and villages. He believes measures like this are of vital importance when it comes to reducing the risk of fatalities and serious injuries.
