More than 7,200 people were waiting for their first hospital outpatient consultation at Cavan General Hospital at the end of July.
The figure at the local hospital at the end of last month was 7,232, according to figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund,.
That's an increase of almost 1,200 on the same time last year, but a very slight decrease on the figure in June of this year, which stood at 7,241.
Nationally, nearly 628,000 were waiting for their first outpatient appointment at the end of last month, an increase of almost 3,700 on the month previous.
Meanwhile, 467 people were waiting for an inpatient appointment at Cavan Hospital in July, an increase of 30 on the month previous and an increase of 120 on the same period last year.
