The success of Teanga Gaeilge in Co Monaghan is down to vision, partnership and resources. That's according to Seán Ó Murchadha from the community group Muineachán le Gaeilge.
The local man was speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan show in relation to recent census results, which confirmed that Monaghan has the highest number of Irish speakers outside of Gaeltacht areas.
According to Seán, Monaghan is the perfect example of how putting adequate resources into the Irish language "works well" and has positive outcomes.
While Seán believes that elements of the education system "needs to be worked on" the recent census figures is "brilliant news" for Co Monaghan as a whole.
"It's a case of actually putting the resources in and Monaghan is a perfect example of when you put the right resources in, it works," explained Seán.
"In Monaghan we're one of the lucky groups who are able to employ a full-time Irish community development officer and he's doing great work on the ground. However, we need more people - we've so many youth clubs and youth groups and we are doing trips away with them, we're also having a comedy night at the end of the month in Monaghan town so when you put the resources in, along with working and co-ordinating with people then everything works right."
