More emergency interventions by government are needed to get some families through the Christmas period.
That's according to Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald ahead of her visit to Monaghan this evening.
Local Sinn Féin TDs Matt Carthy and Pauline Tully will also attend the event that is being held in Inniskeen Community Centre at 7.30pm.
Deputy Mary Lou McDonald said the cost of living crisis is harsh and especially at this time of the year but you have to remember this crisis will not last forever.
She said she is looking forward to meeting people this evening and hearing of the issues that are affecting them in the region.
