Earlier this week, the Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine met to discuss dangerous dog breeds and the risk they pose to children, livestock, and sheep.
IFA Ulster North Leinster Regional chairman, Frank Brady says it's not just dangerous breeds that pose a threat to sheep, "it's the family pet too".
Mr Brady was speaking after several attacks by dogs on sheep across Cavan and Monaghan during the last three months. He pointed out that the regulations around responsible dog ownership must be enforced. Mr Brady added that one dog warden in Co Monaghan "is not enough" and there needs to be two dog wardens appointed across every county in Ireland.
