Monaghan business, Combilift, has been awarded twice by peers in the Engineering and Manufacturing awards in the UK.
Combilift's Heavy Equipment Team won the "Design Team of the Year" award for their work on the company's innovative "12-wheel Combi-LC Blade", a machine specifically engineered to handle off-shore wind turbine blades. The Combi-LC blade was developed to transport large turbine blades and is now successfully in use by manufacturers across the globe.
Co-Founder and CEO of the Monaghan firm, Martin McVicar, was also recognised at the ceremony when he was named "Industry Leader of the Year". Mr McVicar began working with Moffett Engineering during his school summer holidays. Today, the company manages a turnover of €500 million. When Northern Sound spoke to Mr McVicar his chose to recognise the entire Combilift team: "The second award we received was on leadership and I think very much focused on Combilift as a business and how diverse our business is," Martin told Northern Sound, "We specialise in niche markets and that Combilift as a business is the number one player in the markets we enter. As a manufacturer we don';t make traditional forklift trucks; we're very solution-driven and we bring value to our customers in the different market segments that we sell our vehicles into," he said.
