Women for Election in association with the Women's Regional Caucus are delivering a programme of comprehensive and engaging training and events to Monaghan. The initiative is focused on women who may be thinking about running for election either this year or in 5 years' time.
Cllr Cathy Bennett is the Chairperson of the Monaghan Women's Assembly. Speaking to Northern Sound, she has encouraged women of all ages from the local area to get involved. According to Cllr Bennett, this programme aims to encourage and support more women to get involved in politics. "We'd love to get more women involved and to attend the training that is coming up," said Cllr Bennett.
"I would ask anyone who is perhaps thinking of getting into politics or if they have an interest in becoming involved in someone's campaign to join the women's' assembly via the Monaghan County Council website. We'd love to have you on board and the more women we can get on board the more opportunities there will be and the more chance there is of getting more women elected in Monaghan.
