The Monaghan woman elected Lord Mayor of Dublin eager to visit the county.
Councillor Alison Gilliland, originally from Ballybay, was elected the 353rd person to the role on the 28th of June at the AGM of Dublin City Council after running unopposed.
She says it is a great honour both professionally and personally for her and her family, and she is proud to be the 10th woman to be appointed to the position.
When asked if she would come home for a visit during her term she stated that the Mayor of Monaghan County Council would have to issue an invite, something she hopes may happen:
