The significantly upgraded 'Monaghan Way' is among new walks added to the National Walks Scheme. Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys recently announced the largest ever expansion of Ireland's National Walks Scheme with 62 new trails announced across 17 counties. The new and improved 'Monaghan Way' which runs from Inniskeen to Castleblayney includes three new looped walking trails ranging from 4.9km to 10km in length.
Due to the phenomenal response to this expansion, Minister Humphreys will formally launch a further call for expressions of interest to join the Walks Scheme. Minister Humphreys has encouraged trail management committees, community groups and other similar bodies to contact their nearest Local Development Company to make an expression of interest for trails they would like to include in the scheme.
