The Monaghan volunteer centre works with people who are interested in getting involved in volunteering, community groups and any non-profit organisation who want new volunteers to get involved.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Sinead Keenan from Monaghan Volunteer believes bringing together people with an interest in volunteering and groups that need new people to get involved is at the "core" of what the centre is all about.
According to Sinead, volunteering can promote community development and gives local people the chance to contribute to what happens in their area.
She added that volunteers bring new skills, fresh ideas and also help existing group members with important tasks:
"So we're like match-makers for community groups. We match them up with the right volunteers, bring the two sides together and then give them a little bit of other support as well. So we would do things like Garda vetting and training on managing volunteers for the organisations as well. But the real core of it is bringing together people with an interest in volunteering and groups that need new people to get involved."
