An almost three hour wait for an ambulance at a Monaghan U12s football game has been described as horrendous by a local TD.
Monaghan Town FC said it was disappointed at the length of time it took for an ambulance to attend an emergency call to a football game between Monaghan Town FC and Blayney Rovers FC over the weekend.
According to a statement issued by Monaghan Town FC the 999 call was made at 12.29 following a serious injury to one of their U12's players with an ambulance arriving at 3.17 that afternoon.
Deputy Matt Carthy said it wasn't good enough under any circumstances for anyone to be waiting almost 3 hours for an ambulance and he said he will be raising this issue with the Health Minister, Stephen Donnelly.
The injured child had to remain in the same position on the pitch until the arrival of the paramedics.
In a post on social media Monaghan Town FC thanked staff and Management of Blayney Rovers FC who assisted with the emergency.
Local Sinn Fein TD, Deputy Carthy said that the lengthy wait endured at the game for an ambulance is simply not acceptable and not good enough.
