Church Square in Monaghan town is set for a major transformation. Work is expected to begin in September on the development of a new public performance space in Church Square at the forecourt of the Monaghan Courthouse building.
The extension of the square will see the existing taxi rank in front of the Courthouse moved to a location on the North Road. There will also be new circular seating as well as the provision of 17 trees will be provided to enhance the area.
Speaking at a recent meeting of Monaghan County Council, Cllr Raymond Aughey said the proposal for plans had been "considered extensively". He added that the new area will be of "huge benefit" to the town centre as a whole.
