Organisers of the Monaghan Town Park Run are looking for volunteers to become involved in the weekly exercise and social event. Up on 100 people take to Rossmore Forest Park each Saturday morning to run or walk the 5k distance.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Annmarie McCleary, director of the local park run, highlighted how the popular event is both sociable and inclusive, and something that people of all ages can enjoy.
She says that a minimum of eight volunteers are needed on the day to ensure that the Park Run goes ahead, Annemarie added that 80 or 90 people participate every Saturday at the much loved Rossmore Forest Park.
"We are very happy with the turnout. We have great participation from the local Special Olympics group. They come every week; we have the local group of Sanctuary runners who are bused out every week so that they can take part.
"And, we have all ages taking part, from the very young to the very old, and it's very sociable," she said.
