Monaghan Town has hit new heights in the latest IBAL litter survey. The national survey shows Monaghan town among the cleanest in the country, taking runner-up spot in the ranking of 40 towns and cities. It was good news for Cavan also which regains the 'clean' status it lost last year. Emer Brennan is Chairperson of Monaghan Tidy Towns.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Emer said she was "delighted" with the latest survey results published by IBAL. "We're delighted. We were working towards a top three finish so I think everyone will be delighted from all our council staff who are out there 365 days a year, our St Josephs CE staff, our litter vigilante's who are all local volunteers and our volunteers from St Patrick's accommodation centre who have been an added benefit, particularly this year. It's also important to highlight the work of business owners and residents who keep their areas and premises clean and tidy - it's very much a collective effort which makes days like this all the sweeter."
