Councillors in Monaghan town have called for greater consultation on the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan.
The initiative was adopted by the local authority last year, as part of an effort to increase biodiversity and protect bees and flowers.

As part of the plan, parts of green spaces within the town are being let grow wild but are being seen by some community groups as being untidy.

There was unanimous support within the Monaghan MD chamber to increase signage and run education programmes to explain the reasons behind the growth.
Sinn Fein’s Sean Conlon raised the motion that the Council should speak to residents associations on the grass cutting schedule.
