For our School it's a great news story, a positive spin compared to the negative news that there normally is in the Dublin 1 area.
That's the view of two Monaghan teachers that work at O'Connell CBS Primary School in inner city Dublin ahead of former pupil Barry Keoghan's Oscar nomination this Sunday. Barry has been nominated for an Oscar for the best supporting actor for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin.
The Former pupil won a BAFTA in recent weeks and in his acceptance speech he said the award was for the kids that are dreaming to be something from the area I come from. Mickey McHugh who is the principal of O'Connell CBS Primary School from Castleblayney and Pauric Coyle from Threemilehouse have taught at the school for many years and have fond memories of Barry when he attended the city school.
Pauric told the Joe Finnegan Show earlier that Barry was always likable and it's amazing to see how well he is doing.
