A Monaghan student has been voted the FBD Farm Safe School champion for Ulster.
Rockcorry National School is celebrating after senior infant pupil Mara Murray scooped this month’s prize.
Each month, a dedicated regional champion is selected to celebrate children who demonstrate commitment to improving farm safety awareness, both in school and the wider community.
Farm Safe Schools coordinator, Alma Jordan, said Mara displays good knowledge and understanding of farm safety despite her young age.
Alma added that Mara always remembers to wear the correct clothing when visiting her grandad’s farm and chats to him about farm safety and how to put it into practice.
Mara will be awarded a certificate of achievement and a family pass to Dublin Zoo.
