A Monaghan secondary school student says a hybrid Leaving Cert this summer must be considered.
It comes after a by the Irish Second Level Students Union showed two thirds of exam year students would be in favour of a non-traditional model of state exams.
The Department of Education met with stakeholders yesterday, which was described as a 'really positive discussion' on the future of the exam.
Samuel Donaldson is a fifth year student at the Monaghan Collegiate School and the local ISSU rep.
He says the call isn’t just because in-class learning has been disrupted.
