The Monaghan SPCA is set to investigate the possibility of undertaking DNA
testing on dumped animal carcasses.
It follows a motion by Sinn Féin's Cathy Bennett at a recent Monaghan County
Council meeting.
She says the motion is in response to recent incidents in Sliabh Beagh,
which includes the dumping of at least 20 sheep and lamb carcasses in the
area.
While councillors praised the idea, concern was expressed about the
practicalities of the motion.
