The first connection points under the National Broadband Plan have been made in Co Monaghan.
Over 15,000 premises in the county are included in the plans and National Broadband Ireland says it will deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second Monaghan premises, at a cost of €60 million.
The Chair of NBI, David McCourt, says he's delighted that users in Monaghan will be able to "experience the life-changing benefits that high-speed broadband provides".
In advance of the Fibre-to-the-Home roll out, Broadband Connection Points providing free public access in sports and community clubs were delivered nationwide.
Sixteen Broadband Connection Points are planned for Co Monaghan, thirteen of which have already been connected.
