It comes as concerns about contact tracing locally have been raised by Doctors.

The HSE says there is regular contact between it and the NHS in Northern Ireland, with local health officials also informing their counterparts of any need for contact tracing.

But Carrickmacross GP Dr Shane Corr has criticised the lack of testing taking place, citing numerous cases in his surgery.

Cavan’s 14-day incidence rate has passed 1,000 cases per 100,000 people – the highest rate seen in the country.

Monaghan has also seen an increased number of Covid cases in recent weeks but Monaghan town GP Dr Aideen Brides says the second wave seems to have passed there:
