Anne Marie McArdle will represent Co Monaghan at this year's upcoming Rose of Tralee Festival. The Carrickmacross native was crowned Monaghan's Rose at a selection night which took place on Saturday at the Glencarn Hotel in Castleblayney.
Anne Marie is a newly qualified Primary Teacher working in Dublin. Having previously facilitated an after school club to help children with their English speaking skills, Anne Marie is due to facilitate a summer camp in the autism classroom of her school this July. Speaking to Northern Sound following her big win, Anne Marie said that she is looking forward to what the month's ahead will have in store for her.
"I'm gobsmacked and shocked, it just hasn't sunk in yet," explained the Carrickmacross school teacher. "I can't believe it. I'm really looking forward to the whole experience, it's just amazing and it's exciting times ahead. I'll have two years now as the Monaghan Rose and to fulfil Rachel's footsteps and I know that she'll be there to guide me."
