RTE'S decision to not broadcast the Angelus last week in order to not disrupt the coverage of President Joe Biden has sparked much debate. While it has been revealed that the national broadcaster received very few complaints in its decision to not broadcast the Angelus, one Monaghan resident believes that this illustrates a change in public opinion.
Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, Monaghan resident, John Hamill who works with Atheist Ireland believes a national broadcaster like RTE and other local media outlets should be for those of all-faiths and none.
He added that nobody is suggesting that the Angelus must be stopped, but has called for things to be more inclusive of everyone.
