A Monaghan publican says there is a risk of covid-clusters appearing along the southern side of the border if pubs in the North open while pubs in the Republic remain shut.
A four-week lockdown in the north is due to run out tonight, and if an agreement isn't reached, there would be completely different restrictions in place north and south of the border.
Clontibret publican Brian Renaghan says "all the indications" point to pubs in the north re-opening in the next two weeks.
He told this morning's Joe Finnegan Show that this would result in people crossing the border to socialise in the north, which would lead to issues across Cavan, Monaghan, and Leitrim:
