The Vintners Federation of Ireland thinks the Government should consider banning the sale of alcohol in shops.

Pub owners say they're gobsmacked that all pubs can't reopen for another three weeks.

Only ten people can now gather in a household over concerns house parties are leading to a rise in infections.

Padraig Cribben from the VFI says pubs are a controlled environment whereas house parties are not.

Raymond Aughey is the Chairman of the Monaghan Vintners, and said his members had been “left completely in the dark” about a possible reopening date.

He said it’s unfair that they’ll be closed until August, after being “responsible” and closing their doors in March.

Speaking on The Joe Finnegan Show, Raymond Aughey dismissed the idea of prohibition, saying there’s nothing wrong with the sale of alcohol.
