Monaghan County Council is advising members of the public that they have until the 1st of January next to make submissions on the draft map that show lands in the county subject to new Residential Zoned Land Tax (RZLT).
The tax is being administered by the Revenue Commissioners and is aimed at increasing housing supply. The draft map is available to view on Monaghan County Council's website and in its public offices.
Patricia Monahan, Deputy Chief Executive of the local authority is encouraging everyone to view the document. She added that Co Monaghan needs to increase its housing supply to meet housing needs and this latest move will help to secure future demand.
Meanwhile, the RZLT is an annual tax, which will begin in 2024 and will apply annually at a rate of 3% of the market value of the land. The tax will be administered on a self-assessed basis.
