The leaders of two opposition parties are to travel to Monaghan Town tomorrow to meet with the local parents of children with special needs.
Peadar Toibín, the leader of Aontú and Sinn Féin leader, Mary-Lou McDonald, are to meet with members of campaign group, Special Needs Active Parents, or SNAP. For months now, Monaghan families are calling for a special needs school, respite centre and day centre for school-leaver aged children with additional needs.
Their first meeting will be with Peadar Toibín when it's expected he will visit Saint Macartan's College. The Bishop of Clogher has already given his approval for some lands at the college to be used for a special school but, SNAP say government inaction has not got the plans off the ground. The meeting with the Aontú leader will be followed closely by one with Mary-Lou McDonald who will also hear about the crisis in special needs services in Monaghan.
