Monaghan paralympian makes history at the Guinness World Records

Shane McLoughlin achieved the extraordinary feat when he took on the challenge at the Cavan Crystal Hotel in recent weeks.

A Clones man has rewritten history by becoming the first paralympian to secure his third Guinness World record in the space of just five months by pulling a 25 tonne truck.

Shane McLoughlin achieved the extraordinary feat when he took on the challenge at the Cavan Crystal Hotel in recent weeks.

The local man has taken part in some gruelling demonstrations of physical strength over the past number of months.

His first Guinness World record was received for pulling a 18-tonne truck pull in Dublin in May of this year.

A former lorry driver himself, Mr McLoughlin lost his left leg following a farm-related accident in 2001.

Shane has always had the vision of getting pulling trucks into the Paralympics in 2028.

He says he is still determined that this will happen through his endeavours by highlighting and raising awareness.
