Monaghan has been recognised as one of the cleanest towns in the country.
The Irish Business Against Litter survey found Monaghan town to be cleaner than European norms. Indeed, Monaghan is the seventh cleanest town in the country.
The An Taisce report for Monaghan gave the town top marks for over half of the sites surveyed, with no heavily littered spots identified. For the first time since surveys began 20 years ago, no area was deemed ‘seriously littered’ in 2023.
Maynooth was top of the rankings of 40 towns and cities nationwide, with Dublin’s North Inner City at the foot of the table. Monaghan has gained a place on last years results when the town was in eight place this day 12 months ago. Emer Brennan from Monaghan Tidy Towns says its great news for the local area.
