A Monaghan mother says her son cried himself to sleep after his long awaited surgery was cancelled last minute.
Ten year old Daire was born with no arms and is missing his femur bone in both legs, making him a full-time wheelchair user.
His mother Shelley Gorman told The Joe Finnegan Show that the scheduled orthopaedic surgery would have given him significant pain relief, as it's gotten so bad he can't concentrate on any other part of his life.
The surgery was to take place today, but was cancelled after a phonecall on Friday saying Covid pressures and no available beds meant it had to be postponed.
Shelley said Daire had mentally prepared himself, but this is the fifth time it has been cancelled.
