Harry Dwyer who is Managing Director of the mortgage market at Moneycare based in Monaghan town says the extension of the help to buy scheme will significantly benefit local people across the Northern Sound region.
Mr Dwyer also described the tax credit of 500 euro per year for the next two years which renters will receive as a "gesture" but says he is dubious over what people will have to pay each month.
Despite this, he has welcomed efforts, calling it an "attempt" to do something for renters.
Elsewhere, Mr Dwyer raised his concerns over the ten per cent levy announced on concrete blocks.
