A Monaghan farmer has called on Finance Minister, Paschal Donohoe to spend Government's surplus of income tax on a number of key issues.
Frank Brady's comments come off the back of yesterday's announcement which revealed Exchequer returns totalled 16.7 billion euro, meaning there was a surplus of 5 billion euro at the end of last month.
According to the IFA's regional chairman, Frank believes a sum of that money should be allocated towards the back to school allowance to ensure that the excess money is used to support those who need it the most.
He says money "should not" be allocated towards reducing unemployment, with Ireland ranking lowest in unemployment figures across Europe, but believes a small percentage could be beneficial towards trades programmes that would encourage more young people to take up apprenticeships:
