A Monaghan man has raised his concerns in relation to the availability of local link bus services.
Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, Acquinans from Ballybay said the lack of local bus services is leaving elderly people from rural communities with "no other option" but to pay what he described as "extortionate" taxi fare prices.
According to the Ballybay native, current bus services are unsuitable, especially when needing to attend hospital appointments.
Only recently, Acquinans was forced to price a taxi from Ballybay to Navan Hospital due to there being no available bus route suitable.
He described the expected price as a "rip-off" and has called on more to do done in terms of transport for those living in rural communities.
