A Monaghan man came up with a novel way to reclaim his lost luggage at Dublin Airport after it went missing following his return from a family holiday in Australia.
Speaking on the Wider View this afternoon, Dermot Lennon from Laragh said that after arriving back at the airport at the end of June to discover one of his suitcases as missing, he returned home to Monaghan and spent a week contacting Dublin Airport and the ariline he flew with trying to get information on the missing case.
Nothing was forthcoming and he returned to the airport in an effort to find the luggage.
After seven hours of getting "nowhere", Dermot purchased a ticket to Glasgow for €18 for the following day so that he could get through security and into baggage reclaim.
The Monaghan man arrived back at the airport 24 hours later and within an hour was through security and in the baggage area.
20 minutes later he found the missing suitcase.
"You can't get any information from Dublin Airport," Dermot told the Wider View.
"There is just no information and this is the major problem.
"I live in Ireland so I wasn't too bad but I did feel for some of the people arriving here.
"Dublin Airport made no effort to provide information or to be helpful."
