A Monaghan man who was diagnosed with a degenerative eye condition 30 years ago is encouraging anyone suffering from sight loss to go along to an event where they can meet the leading scientists in the field.
Tony Ward from Lough Egish was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa almost 30 years ago.
Although the accountant's vision is significantly impaired, Tony does not live in what he referes to as a "dark world" and enjoys running with assistance.
He is also Head of Finance at the Fighting Blindness charity.
On June 8th, the Retina World Congress takes place in the Royal Dublin Convention Centre.
Tony wants anyone from the Northern Sound region who is living with vision impairment or sight loss to go along to the event so they can "get hope and encouragement to live their lives and know there's work going on behind the scenes to find cures and treatments".
