Monaghan man, Terence O'Rourke, has been conferred with an honorary doctorate from DCU.

Originally from Iniskeen, Terence first graduated from the university with a BA in Economics and History in 1975 before embarking on a notable career with KPMG. Rising through the company to become audit partner in 1988 and elected managing partner eight years later, Mr O'Rourke eventually became Head of Audit for the firm until 2006. His roles away from KPMG include being a Fellow of the Institute of
Chartered Accountants in Ireland, for which he was President in 2004 and chairman of ESB. At the recent DCU event to honour him, Terence quoted fellow Iniskeen
native, Patrick Kavanagh, because as he said, the Monaghan poet "wrote about his own life journey and the landscape that shaped him".
