Seven local girls from Ballybay, Cootehill, Castleblayney and Smithborough are part of a group of dancers who have qualified to compete in the World Line Dance Championships in Orlando, Florida. The local group of girls have formed lifelong friendships through their love of line dancing and have successfully competed in various European championships.

This has culminated in their qualification to the UCWDC World Championship which takes place in Orlando on 28th of December. In addition to this, a local fundraiser has been organised in Ballybay Pearse Brothers on Sunday 1st December from 4pm to 6pm.

Olivia Macklin has two daughters who will be travelling to Florida for the competition. Speaking to Northern Sound, Olivia says this is will also be an opportunity for the girls to demonstrate what they do best.
