Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, John McGuirk questioned how an increase in spending has led to further gaps in sectors such as healthcare and education.

A Monaghan journalist has criticised the Government's approach to vacancies in multiple areas of the public sector.

Editor of Gript Media, John McGuirk, who hails from Monaghan, says successive Governments have made jobs in the Defence Forces, Healthcare, and Gardaí 'utterly miserable'. Earlier this week, it was revealed that the Government has increased spending by approximately €30 billion compared with previous years The Gript Media editor claims the government has broken all previous spending records

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, John McGuirk questioned how an increase in spending has led to further gaps in sectors such as healthcare and education.

"You've increased spending by the equivalent of 10 National Children's Hospitals, why therefore are there still a thousand vacancies in the schools. Why has the health service not meaningfully improved? Why therefore can't you recruit people? What on earth are you spending the money on? You have obliterated all spending records, what does the country have to show for it?
