A local senator has described the recent job announcement for Monaghan town as one of the biggest employment opportunities that the locality has seen in decades.
That's according to Fianna Fail's Robbie Gallagher who revealed that within 12 months, it is expected that 150 people will be employed in the former John E Coyle factory in Monaghan town.
The recruitment is a direct result of global company - Hanley Energy - who have decided to set-up its new headquarters at the former Coyle factory site.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Senator Gallagher revealed that the company is bringing over 225 new jobs in total to the North-East with a significant expansion of its operations in Ireland.
He added that the range of positions that will be created are particularly welcome and will encourage more highly skilled young people to stay and work in Monaghan.
