A Monaghan infectious diseases expert says hairdressers and barbers should be allowed to reopen at the end of this month.
It's ahead of a meeting of the National Public Health Emergency Team this morning.
They'll discuss the accelerated roadmap for reopening the country, which was reduced to just four phases recently.
This comes as the numbers of those contracting the virus begins to decrease.
Locally yesterday's figures for the Shannonside Northern Sound Region show no change for both Cavan and Monaghan.
With Cavan's number of cases remaining at 859, while Monaghan has 536 cases.
In Longford there are 285 cases, 84 in Leitrim, and Roscommon saw an increase of 1 to 343.
Three more people died as a result of the Covid-19 in the republic yesterday and eight new cases of the virus have also been confirmed.
The total number of Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland now stands at 1,710.
As of midnight last night, the number of cases confirmed here is 25,341.
Hairdressers and barbers are due to be closed until July 20th, but Professor Sam McConkey says they should be allowed to open under phase three on June 29th.
