Monaghan County Council have launched an appeal for hotel and guest house owners to put forward accommodation to assist with the ongoing housing shortages.
Senior officials have reached out to prospective suitors with a view to adding them to the council's index of emergency accommodation.
The council said much of that focus is to add to its capacity to house homeless individuals and families in the greater Monaghan and Carrickmacross areas at this time.
The local authority wants to be able add new accommodation to the list of retained Emergency Accommodation for homeless families and individuals.
Monaghan County Council say family and single rooms may be required to meet emergency accommodation needs as they arise in the county.
