A car that hasn't been taxed since June of last year has been taken off the
road in Co Monaghan.
Gardaí were carrying out speed checks on the N2 in the early hours of Friday
morning and a large number of high speeds were detected and Fixed Payment
Notices were issued.
One car which was detected travelling at over 120 in an 80 kilometre.
The vehicle, which has since been taken off the road, hadn't been tax since
in over a year and had no valid certificate of road worthiness.
Elsewhere, a man faces a court appearance after failing a roadside drugs
test after being stopped by Cavan Roads Policing Unit.
In the run up to Christmas, local gardaí say similar speed checks will be
carried out in an effort to reduce speeds.
