Gardaí in Monaghan have reminded road-users of the need to secure loads on trailers after seizing a trailer that was carrying two bales of silage on Sunday night.
Monaghan gardaí received a report from a concerned member of the public, after which a jeep and trailer were stopped by gardaí.
It had no lights on either the rear of the jeep or the trailer and the brake lights were also non-existent - the vehicle and trailer were seized for a PSV examination.
Gardai said it was an "extremely careless act", especially given the weather conditions on Sunday night, with dense fog and a heavy frost.
Gardaí have since appealed to motorists to take care on the road and to drive to the conditions.
