A Monaghan GAA player made an entrance like no other after she arrived via helicopter from her wedding reception to her home club grounds of Donaghmoyne yesterday afternoon.
Cathriona McConnell tied the knot at the Slieve Russell Hotel on Saturday but made the journey to be with her team mates for Donaghmoyne's All-Ireland semi-final against Kilmacud Crokes on Sunday.
With a final score of 1-11 to seven points, the newly-wed scored a stellar seven points to see her local club through to the All-Ireland finals.
Despite tying the knot on Saturday, the talented player promised that celebrations in the Slieve Russell Hotel would not be cut short, regardless of the huge match she had a mere 24 hours later.
The 32-year-old has helped the team to secure five All-Ireland senior club crowns during her glittering career.
Now, a special needs assistant while continuing her on-field exploits with her club, and Cathriona says she was never going to sit out an All-Ireland semi-final, even on the weekend of her own wedding.
