The Monaghan Fire service attended the scene of a house fire this morning on the Ballybay Road.
Two units were deployed from Ballybay and Castleblayney at around 4.30am.
All occupants were safe and outside the house on arrival and the teams were able to extinguish the blaze.
Initial examinations indicate that it may have been an electrical fire.
Chief Fire Officer Dermot Bannigan is appealing to people to ensure they do not overload sockets in the home this time of year.
He is also urging home owners to always use a registered electrician.
