A Monaghan farmer has been appointed Chair of the IFA Dairy Committee. Ballybay farmer Martin McElearney is the first member from this region to be given the appointment within the farming organisation.
Accepting his nomination, Martin said the dairy sector faces many challenges particularly the retention of the nitrates derogation. He also marked keeping a strong milk price to cover the high costs of production as one of his priorities.
