Bronwyn O'Neill, the Monaghan digital journalist, has been following this year's Eurovision and says Israel has a chance of winning the song contest. She also said Bambi Thug is in with a chance but, Ireland's chances of success would be better if it were a different year without so much political voting around the issue of Israel and Palestine.
The media contributor said claims by the shows' organisers that the competition is not a political exercise doesn't stand up as protests outside the arena in Malmo, acts of protests by the artists and tactical pro-Palestine and anti-Israel voting continue.
The Eurovision Song Contest was created as a unifying event for Europe, Bronwyn O'Neill said: "As much as we can say and, as much as the Eurovision organisers can say, there is a reason why certain countries don't vote for each other," Bronwyn told the Joe Finnegan Show, "There's a reason why Ireland doesn't vote for England every year. Like, it is political and at the end of the day and you can argue and say all this stuff. The problem, again, is that people who are pro-Palestine are not watching it, they're not going to vote urging on social media that if you must vote vote for a pro-Palestine artist."
